Moderate earthquake rattles central China

ZHENGZHOU, China, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- An earthquake leveled 24 homes and injured 12 students in central China, the China National Seismological Network said.

The quake, measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale, struck Zhoukou City about 5 p.m. Sunday, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

The collapsed homes were in Taikang County and the students were injured in a middle school. They were hospitalized.

About 40 homes were reported to have cracks or other damage in Kugou County.

The moderate quake was felt across eastern Henan, including the provincial Zhengzhou City.
