Two Iraqi cops killed at checkpoint

BAGHDAD, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Iraqi authorities say gunmen opened fire on a police checkpoint in Anbar province Saturday, killing two officers and wounding two others.

The attack occurred west of Baghdad in the town of Anna early in the morning, officials told CNN.

The shooting occurred a few hours before a bombing in the town of Balad injured a family of four as they rode in a car. Police said someone apparently attached a "sticky" bomb to the vehicle that later exploded.
