BEIJING, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- A coal mine explosion in China's Guizhou province killed at least five people and injured four others, local authorities said.
Yang Guili, a member of the Anshun city government near the explosion site, said explosives detonated Sunday when miners removed them after they had not detonated during blasting operations, China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported Monday.

Yang said two local officials, including the district's work safety chief, were suspended while the accident is being investigated.
