Sept. 27, 2010 at 4:26 PM

OREBRO, Sweden, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A Swede survived an ax attack on the back of the head without life-threatening wounds, police said.

A 50-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after attacking his victim, 56, with an ax in the central city of Orebro, the Swedish news agency TT and The Local, an English-language Swedish news site, reported.

The injured man managed to get himself to a nearby bar where bouncers found him bleeding at 2:30 a.m. He was taken to a hospital.

"He was conscious and speaking, so it is not life-threatening. However, he had a gash in the back of the head," said Kenneth Johannesson of the Orebro police.

The victim identified his attacker, a 50-year-old man police later arrested in an apartment.

"They have been at loggerheads since a previous incident," Johannesson said.
