KIEV, Ukraine, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Military officials in Ukraine say a munitions explosion aboard one of its warships wounded four sailors.
Two artillery shells reportedly detonated Friday aboard an amphibious assault ship during naval war games off the Crimean Peninsula, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency reported Saturday.
RIA Novosti cited a Ukrainian media report based on information from a source within the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. There was no report on damage to the ship.
The Defense Ministry had no immediate comment on the report; however, the national prosecutor's office did confirm to the UNIAN news agency that an explosion aboard the naval vessel Kirovograd was under investigation, RIA Novosti said.
Ukrainian naval ships have been engaged in an exercise dubbed Cooperation-2010 in the Crimea.
