Window bubble forces emergency landing

ROME, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- An airplane carrying Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi made an emergency landing when a small bubble was found in a cockpit porthole, an airport official said.

The bubble was caused by a short-circuit in the window's heating system, and was not serious, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Thursday.

The airplane took off from Rome Thursday, heading to Brussels for a meeting of the European Union; it landed in Milan after the bubble was discovered. Berlusconi continued his trip on a waiting Airbus jet, the report said.

"Everything's OK, we're continuing our trip," said Paolo Bonaiuti, Italy's Cabinet secretary.
