ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- A Taliban expert on remote-controlled bombs was killed Friday in a clash with government security forces in Northwest Pakistan, the military said.
Officials said security forces got a tip that Cmdr. Zair Ali and several other militants were in the Bajaur tribal area, Press Trust of India reported. The group was surrounded and given an opportunity to surrender but opened fire instead.
Ali was killed and five others arrested, officials said. He was described as an expert in bomb manufacture.
