Suicide bomber kills at least 15 in market

MOSCOW, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- An explosion at a market in Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia, killed at least 15 people and injured 40 others Thursday, investigators said.

Investigators said a suicide bomber drove his vehicle into the market and detonated the explosives near the market's entrance, The New York Times reported.

No one claimed responsibility for the blast, but officials said North Ossetia has been targeted by militants in the past. A suicide attack on a police checkpoint near the border with Ingushetia killed one police officer.
