SURREY, British Columbia, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A Canadian broadcaster suspected in a weekend shooting outside a Sikh temple in British Columbia turned himself in Monday, police said.

Maninder Gill, 47, of Surrey, was charged with five weapons-related counts after he surrendered to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Gill allegedly shot Harjit Atwal in the leg in the Guru Nanak Temple's parking lot Saturday following an argument at a wedding and then fled. Police had received reports of several gunshots.

Gill, a well-known broadcaster in Vancouver's South Asian community, and Atwal, a 54-year-old developer, allegedly had been feuding.

Atwal was recovering from his leg wound, the CBC said.
