CAIRO, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Egyptian security forces say they have foiled attempts to smuggle rockets into the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptians raided a number of secret weapons depots Saturday, discovering about 190 anti-aircraft missiles and an unspecified amount of explosives, bullets and anti-tank mines, the Palestinian news agency Maan said.

The arms were found during raids conducted in three locations close to the border with the Gaza Strip and in the Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian officials said.

Egyptian security sources told Maan the weapons were to have been smuggled into the Gaza Strip.

There were also unconfirmed reports Egyptian security forces destroyed 12 smuggling tunnels near the Gaza Strip.
