BANGKOK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- A 2-month-old tiger cub, drugged so it would look like a stuffed animal, was found in a traveler's baggage, Thai wildlife officials said.
A Thai woman, 31, about to fly to Iran, was arrested Sunday after the tiger was revealed in an X-ray of a suitcase full of toys at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Bangkok Post reported.
"He was very calm, half asleep and half awake when we rescued him," an official from the Wild Fauna and Flora Protection Division told the Post Friday.
The woman, who officials said admitted carrying the tiger, faces four years in prison and a fine for possessing and smuggling an endangered animal.
The cub is being cared for at the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Rescue Center while investigators determine whether it was from the wild or bred in captivity, the Pattaya Daily News reported.
