LONDON, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- North Korea has opened a Facebook account after its Twitter Internet feed was blocked for containing information illegal in the south, a report says.
South Korea's Communications Standards Commission blocked the North Korea Twitter feed because it contained information illegal under South Korean security laws, The Daily Telegraph said Saturday.
The Twitter account was created in July and had more than 8,500 followers in one week, but posted just 30 "tweets" linking reports praising North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, the report said.
"We are aware of the Facebook account and the police and the National Intelligence Service are currently investigating the site to verify whether it is indeed run by the North Korean government," communications commission head Han Myung-ho said of the new Internet site.
