Quake shakes Ecuador

QUITO, Ecuador, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A 6.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Ecuador Thursday, about 106 miles southeast of the country's capital, Quito, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake was at a depth of about 117 miles, the service said.

Its epicenter was about 88 miles east of Ambato and 159 miles northeast of Cuenca.
