CAIRO, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Egyptian security officials arrested a terror squad days before last week's rocket attacks on Israel and Jordan, the London's Asharq al-Awsat said Sunday.
The report said five days before the rocket attacks, Egyptian security forces arrested three people in the Sinai area after bomb making equipment and explosives were reportedly found in their car.
The three also carried no identity papers, the report said.
The newspaper said the three were caught by Bedouins and handed over to the Egyptian security forces.
Bedouin officials alleged the three were involved in planning attacks on Israel and Jordan, however, Egyptian security officials have denied the allegations.
"A number of people have been arrested for suspicion of having ties to terror organizations. They are not connected to the rocket fire," one Egyptian official was quoted saying.
Five rockets were fired at the southern Israeli city of Eilat and the Jordanian resort Aqaba Monday, killing one Jordanian and injuring four others.
