Small sidewalk bomb hurts six in Grozny

GROZNY, Russia, July 30 (UPI) -- An apparent bomb blast injured six people Friday in Grozny, the capital of the restive Russian republic of Chechnya, police reported.

The explosion occurred near what police described as a trade center and apparently involved a small bomb hidden beneath the paving stones on a sidewalk, Russia's RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Chechnya has had sporadic terrorist attacks since the two significant wars between the Russian military and separatist rebels in the 1990s and early in this decade.
