Scattered gunfire, arson plagues Karachi

KARACHI, Pakistan, July 24 (UPI) -- Gunfire on the streets of Karachi left four people dead and at least six wounded, Pakistani authorities reported Saturday.

The worst incident was an attack late Friday night on an office of the political party Muttahida Qaumi Movement, in which one party worker was killed and six people were wounded.

Dawn News said the incidents that followed included the torching of seven vehicles by unidentified suspects and an arson at a furniture market.

Many shops and restaurants in Karachi were closed as a precaution on Saturday.
