Canadian Mountie charged in wife's death

EDMONTON, Alberta, July 11 (UPI) -- A Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable is facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of his wife, authorities say.

Tarith Sehmbi, 36, a seven-year veteran of the RCMP, was arrested Saturday after his wife's body was found in their Edmonton home by police sent to the residence after reports of shots being fired. Sehmbi, who was arrested later at another location, is expected to make an initial court appearance Monday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

The victim's name had not been released and police weren't saying how she died, the CBC said.

Neighbors said the couple's two young children are being cared for by family members.
