Obama to honor nation's top cops

WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) -- Top cops in the United States will be honored Friday at a ceremony recognizing the Association of Police Organizations Top Cops winners, the White House said.

President Barack Obama will deliver remarks during the ceremony in the Rose Garden, the daily itinerary indicated. Attorney General Eric Holder also will attend the event.

Obama also will meet with Cabinet members and senior administration officials to discuss the operation to stop the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, contain its spread and assist affected communities, the White House said.
