Fatal fire may be linked to harassment

LONDON, April 25 (UPI) -- London police said they were "looking for any possibility" a house fire that killed two children was connected to recent harassment against their family.

The fire broke out Friday night, about an hour after the victims' mother contacted police about a disturbance outside their home, The Sunday Times of London reported. She said the disturbance was the work of teenagers who had been harassing her for months.

Fiona Adams, 23, jumped from a ground floor window of the burning home with her 8-month-old son, Kiernan, but two children -- Niamh, 5, and Cayden, 2 -- were found dead on an upper floor, authorities said.

Shortly before the fire started, Adams posted a message on Facebook telling her alleged tormentors they would not get her or her family. Police said the messages would be a factor in their investigation.

The Times reported police had been called to the house multiple times during the past three years -- and had been to the house Friday to investigate Adams' complaint. Police said they searched the area and found overturned lawn furniture but no suspect.

"We are now looking for any possibility there may be a connection to the first call with the fire that took place an hour later," Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill said.
