GAZA CITY, Gaza, April 6 (UPI) -- Israel won't have an excuse to launch a major Gaza offensive because Hamas has decided to continue its suspension of rocket attacks, sources in Gaza City say.
The sources told The Jerusalem Post Hamas and several other Palestinian factions held emergency meetings recently about the need to maintain an unofficial cease-fire.
The groups agreed to stop firing rockets at Israel, the sources told the Post.
Besides Hamas, groups represented at the meeting were Islamic Jihad, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Representatives of Fatah were invited but did not attend, the newspaper reported.
Despite the call for continuing the cease-fire, a Kassam rocket slammed into the western Negev Sunday night. There were no casualties or damages.
