Easter Egg Roll a healthy, happy event

WASHINGTON, April 2 (UPI) -- The White House's annual Easter Egg Roll Monday will see an estimated 30,000 people from all 50 states and the Washington area, the White House said Friday.

The theme for the event is "Ready, Set, Go!" to keep first lady Michelle Obama's campaign to battle childhood obesity, the White House said in a release.

Singers, entertainers, chefs and athletes will be on hand to show the fun side of healthy eating and enjoying a healthy lifestyle.

Sports zone will feature football, basketball, tennis, golf, softball and obstacle courses while the Rock 'n' Egg Roll stage will be home to musical performances. The Play with your Food activity center is build around the White House Kitchen Garden and Eggspress Yourself is an arts and crafts workshop.

Oh, and there's an Easter egg hunt and traditional Easter egg roll.

Among the guests expected to hop on down the bunny trail are singer Justin Bieber, the cast of the television show "Glee," "Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling, Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, Olympic medalist Apolo Ohno, tennis great Billie Jean King, NFL stars Kevin Barnes, Alvin Bowen, Matt Lawrence and others, and a battery of chefs, including Art Smith, Jose Andres as well as the White House chefs.

The White House said many of the fruits and vegetables for this year's event were organically grown. Food scraps from the Play with Your Food station will be composted -- a first for the Easter Egg Roll.
