ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, March 15 (UPI) -- NATO forces fighting militants must do more to stop cross-border traffic between Pakistan and Afghanistan, a Pakistani military official said.
Pakistan increased the number of military checkpoints along the border to 821 after years of complaints from NATO that not enough was being done, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said.
There are just 112 NATO and Afghan Army border checkpoints, he said.
NATO must increase the number of checkpoints and share more of the responsibility if it wants to destroy the safe havens of al-Qaida and Taliban fighters in the territory, Abbas told Dawn in a story reported Monday.
