TORONTO, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Some 67 percent of Canadians support legalizing euthanasia by varying degrees, an Angus Reid survey published in Toronto said.
The survey of 1,003 adults conducted Feb. 2-3 found 10 percent weren't sure about legalizing assisted suicide and 23 percent were opposed.
A similar poll in August showed 71 percent in favor of legalizing euthanasia, the pollster said.
Asked if a person who assists someone commit suicide should be prosecuted, 41 percent said "no," 25 percent said "yes" and 33 percent were undecided.
Regionally, support was highest for legalized euthanasia in Quebec, with 77 percent and lowest in Manitoba and Saskatchewan with 46 percent opposed, the survey showed.
The poll's margin of error was 3.1 percent, Angus Reid said.
