JERUSALEM, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- An Israeli Border Guard officer and four policemen were injured Monday while attempting to detain suspects in a Palestinian refugee camp, authorities said.
A total of 25 suspects were arrested in the area of the Shuafat camp in a Palestinian neighborhood of East Jerusalem on various charges including rioting, rock-throwing, employing illegal aliens and other felony offenses, The Jerusalem Post reported.
As officers targeted suspects and began making arrests, students going home from a nearby school began throwing stones, injuring the five officers, Ynetnews.com said.
Two teenage students were arrested and held for questioning while the police sweep through the camp continued, authorities said.
The boarder guard officer was slightly wounded and taken to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem. The four policemen were treated at the scene.
Police were also in the neighborhood to protect municipal workers who were carrying out maintenance work, the Post said.
