PYONGYANG, North Korea, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A U.N. envoy said Saturday his upcoming visit to North Korea will include discussions on how to resume six-party talks regarding the country's nuclear program.

Lynn Pascoe, under-secretary-general of the United Nations for political affairs, said from South Korea Saturday he will discuss a wide range of issues while visiting North Korea next week, the Yonhap News Agency reported.

Pascoe would not confirm whether the possible removal of U.N. sanctions against North Korea would be among the issues discussed during his four-day visit.

A U.N. Security Council resolution was used last year to impose the sanctions in the wake of North Korea completing their second detonation of a nuclear device.

North Korea's nuclear program has been part of talks involving South Korea, China, Japan, Russia and the United States.

Yonhap said Pascoe, the former U.S. ambassador to Indonesia, is expected to depart for Pyongyang, North Korea, on Monday.
