SYDNEY, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- An Australian neurosurgeon was charged Thursday with killing two women who allegedly took fatal cocaine overdoses at his Sydney apartment.
Dr. Suresh Surendranath Nair, 41, was being held pending a court appearance Friday, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. He was already charged with supplying cocaine to Suellen Domingues Zaupa, 22, who died in November.
Nair is charged with the murder of Zaupa and manslaughter of Victoria McIntyre, 23. McIntyre, an escort, died of cocaine toxicity after allegedly using the drug at Nair's apartment in a luxury building in Elizabeth Bay.
The Health Department has also begun reviewing records of Nair's patients at Nepean Public Hospital, the Herald said.
Nepean was suspended from medical practice when he failed a urine test in 2004. But the New South Wales Medical Board allowed him to return to work under supervision.
