Cricket allegedly ends in acid attack

NEW DELHI, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A teenager allegedly splashed acid on a group of people during an argument that erupted during a cricket match on India's Republic Day, police said.

Seven people, including a woman and four youths, suffered acid burns in the Tuesday incident at Begumpur near Rohini, the Press Trust of India reported Wednesday.

The boy who allegedly through the chemical was detained.

It wasn't clear what incited the argument that led to the acid attack, PTI said.

The cricket match had included boys ages 14-16.
