MONTREAL, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- A judge in Montreal Tuesday declared a mistrial in the case of five defendants in the Norbourg fraud case.

Quebec provincial Judge Richard Wagner dismissed the jurors after they told him they could not reach a verdict after 11 days of deliberations, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. The five defendants had been facing a total of more than 700 charges.

It wasn't known if prosecutors would seek a new trial against Remi Deschambault, Jean Cholette, Serge Beugre, Jean Renaud and Felicien Souka.

Norbourg Asset Management Inc. founder Vincent Lacroix had pleaded guilty to 200 counts and is serving a 13-year prison term. In 2005 it came to light more than 9,200 people suffered about $130 million in losses investing in the now-defunct Montreal firm.
