SURREY, British Columbia, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Alleged Red Scorpion gang member Sophon Sek, charged in the apartment fire deaths of six people in Surrey, Canada, is free on bail, Canada, police said.

Sek was arrested last fall and charged with manslaughter in the deaths of six people in a Surrey high-rise apartment on Oct. 19, 2007.

Sek is the first of six suspects linked to the Red Scorpion gang to receive bail. The other five were charged with first-degree murder in the killings, which prosecutors allege were related to the illegal drug trade.

Sek was arrested a day after winning $364,364 in the 2009 British Columbia Poker Championship.
