"If a car had been passing by on Djaknegatan at the time of the explosion, things could have ended badly," Malmo police spokesperson Per Robertz told the Swedish news agency TT.

Police said the Buddha Lounge was not open at the time of the blast because the business temporarily shut down due to bankruptcy.

An investigation is under way to determine what kind of explosives were used in the blast and what the possible motive for the bombing may have been, The Local reported.

"We don't know of any motive for the attack, nor do we have any suspects," Peter Martinsson, representative for the Skane County police, told TT.
