MONTREAL, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A Toronto man was in custody in Montreal Thursday after causing an Air Canada flight to Germany to make an unscheduled landing because of a fight.
Flight 872 left Toronto bound for Frankfurt around 6 p.m. Wednesday and an hour into the flight two men began fighting, the Canwest News Service reported.
The pilot sought to land in Montreal and requested police meet the aircraft, Montreal police Constable Raphael Bergeron said. However, the man who had been assaulted said he didn't want to press charges. The unidentified unruly man was ordered off the plane.
Once in the terminal, he began yelling at Air Canada staff and was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace, the report said.
There was no indication why the man didn't face federal charges of disturbing a flight.
After an hour's delay, the flight continued on to Frankfurt, the report said.
