SAADA, Yemen, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- More than 500 Yemeni civilians have been slain and 485 others have been kidnapped by Houthi terrorist groups, a provincial governor says.
The Yemeni Web site Almotamar.net said Monday Saada Gov. Hasan Mana'a asserted most of the victims, killed and kidnapped since the government launched attacks on the rebels in August, were old men and children, the official news agency Saba reported.
Mana'a said Houthis have killed hundreds, carried out bombings and looted people's property and forcing them out of their homes, as well as attacking mosques, schools and roads.
The Web site quoted the governor as saying local authorities, civic organizations and international aid agencies are continuing to help tens of thousands of refugees in Saada and the Harf Sufyan district in neighboring Amran province, with convoys arriving at refugee camps, Saba reported.
