Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor

BANDAR ABBAS, Iran, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Iran says a pair of prisoners who had twice escaped before their scheduled executions were finally put to death.
The prisoners, who had been convicted of bank robbery and arms smuggling, were recaptured Tuesday near the coastal town of Bandar Abbas following their escape from the town of Sirjan. They were hanged hours later.
The BBC reported Wednesday an angry crowd in Sirjan earlier disrupted the planned hangings and allowed the pair to escape. Two people were killed and 25 were injured in the melee that resulted in security forces firing into the crowd.
Five members of the convicts' families were also arrested. It was not clear what charges they would face.
