Eight killed in Russian plane crash

KORKINO, Russia, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A pilot and seven parachute jumpers died Sunday in the crash of a private plane in Russia's Chelyabinsk Region in the Urals, authorities said.

The SM-92T crashed near the town of Korkino, the regional emergencies center said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation, RIA Novosti reported.

The plane crashed shortly after takeoff. The pilot was experienced and had flown for the military, authorities said.
