MANCHESTER, England, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- A British woman who killed a widow as a teenager and had a baby by another inmate while in an open prison is being given a new identity, officials say.
A source in the prison system told the Daily Mail Lisa Healey is getting the opportunity to change her name even though she is moving in with her parents, who live less than 2 miles from the house in the Manchester area they occupied when she was convicted. She is expected to be paroled this month, the British newspaper reported Tuesday.
"It's a crazy situation," the source said. "They must be spending a fortune on this plan, which won't protect her at all because everyone in the area will know who she is. Her parents are very well known around there, so it will be no secret. She's already spent lots of time at her parents' house during home releases from her open jail."
Healey was 15 in 1998 when she and a 14-year-old friend killed Lily Lilley, 71, a widow who lived in Failsworth near Manchester. After pretending friendship, they spent two days torturing Lilley before killing her and dumping her body in a canal.
Healey gave birth to a daughter in April. The father, Michael Dent, was doing time in another open prison for growing marijuana. The couple met at a forum on criminal justice and then used days out of prison for romantic meetings, the newspaper reported.
