MOGADISHU, Somalia, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Fighting between factions of the Somali transitional federal government left three soldiers dead, witnesses say.

A civilian also was wounded in Monday's 20-minute confrontation in Mogadishu, the Shabelle Media Network reported.

Witnesses said the fighting flared when one contingent of government troops were patrolling through the capital's Hamar Jajab district.

Meanwhile unidentified gunmen shot and killed a cleric in the port town of Bosaso after evening prayers, witnesses told Shabelle Monday. The victim was identified only as Sahal, the imam of the al-Rashid mosque.
