3 killed, 4 hurt in China fireworks blast

GAOZUO, China, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A fireworks factory explosion killed three people and injured four others in eastern China's Jiangsu province, authorities said.

Local work safety authorities said the Saturday explosion in Gaozuo, Jianhu County, killed one worker immediately and blew down four houses, the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

It said two of the injured died after being hospitalized while another four victims were still hospitalized and in stable condition Sunday.

Xinhua said local authorities shut down all fireworks factories in the county for safety check after the blast, which is still under investigation.
