SEOUL, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- North Korea's ruling Worker's Party said Saturday South Korea should be responsible for any steps taken to improve relations between the two countries.
Rodong Sinmun, a newspaper published by the Worker's Party, said South Korea has shown little interest in improving relations with North Korea, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported.
"If the South Korean government is even a bit interested in North-South relations, it will naturally have to show a positive reaction to our fair actions," a Rodong Sinmun report stated.
"We have done everything we were supposed to for the improvement of North-South relations and now it is time for the South Korean government to reply."
The newspaper comments came a day after South Korean President Lee Myung-bak announced in a Friday debate that he was prepared to hold a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il if such talks helped lead to improved inter-Korean relations and a cessation of North Korea's nuclear program.
