Mother said Josh Powell threatened her
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- The mother and brother of a Thai engineer held in Cambodia on espionage charges were granted a 30-minute visit Friday, an official of Prey Sar prison said.
The official said the two relatives of Sivarak Chutipong would return to Thailand following the visit, the Bangkok Post reported.
The engineer is accused of supplying the Thai Embassy with flight schedule information when ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra visited Phnon Penh this month.
At the time, he was an employee of a Thai company, Cambodia Air Traffic Service.
Sivarak's mother said she was so excited about the prospect of seeing her son that she hadn't had a proper sleep for two nights. She said she planned to tell him to be patient because he would soon be freed.
A Cambodian court is expected to decide by Dec. 8 whether to release Sivarak on bail.
