TOKYO, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Tokyo has again been crowned the world's top culinary city by the Michelin Guide, which awarded its coveted three-star designation to 11 restaurants.

The French guidebook's Tokyo edition cited 197 restaurants in all, including 147 one-star establishments and 42 with two stars.

The three-star listings were up from nine last year and topped Paris, which had 10 three-star dining spots.

The Mainichi Daily News reported Wednesday that Japanese cuisine accounted for 70 percent of the listed restaurants, including the three new members of the three-star club: Esaki (classical Japanese), Yukimura (Japanese) and Saito (sushi). All three had been two-star winners last year.
