TOKYO, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The suspected killer of a British teacher whose body was found in a bathtub at a Tokyo-area apartment in 2007 has refused to eat since his arrest, police say.

Tatsuya Ichihashi, 30, won't take anything but water and green tea, Sky News reported Friday.

Ichihashi was arrested Tuesday as he tried to take a ferry from Osaka to the southern Japanese Island of Okinawa.

He is being held for the March 2007 slaying of Lindsay Ann Hawker, 22, of Brandon, whose naked and battered body was found in a sand-filled bathtub at his flat near Tokyo.

Police say Ichihashi can be questioned for up to 20 days before prosecutors decide on an indictment.

His arrest was on a charge of abandoning a body rather than murder.

Ichihashi reportedly had cosmetic surgery to disguise himself after Hawker's body was discovered, police say.
