Eleven killed in Russian plane crash

YAKUTSK, Russia, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Flight recorders were recovered Sunday from a plane crash that killed 11 people in Yukutia in Russia's Far East, authorities said.

The plane registered to Russia's Interior Ministry crashed minutes after taking off from Mirny airport on a flight to Irkutsk, RIA Novosti reported.

The 11 people aboard the II-76 Candid strategic airlifter included seven regular crew members and four replacement crew members, TV Channel Vesti reported.

No one was injured on the ground when the plane crashed about 1.9 miles from the airport.

An investigation into the cause of the crash was under way, interior ministry officials said.
