Attackers wound six Greek police officers

ATHENS, Greece, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A machine gun attack wounded six Greek police officers, two of them seriously, authorities in Athens say.

Two attackers on a motorcycle approached a police post in northern Athens Tuesday and opened fire on the officers before fleeing, The Times of London reported.

One officer was shot multiple times in the chest and another was hit in the stomach.

Investigators recovered some 50 machine gun shell casings at the scene, The Times says.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the incident.

Similar shootings in the past have been carried out by leftist groups like the Revolutionary Struggle.
