U.S. soldier among five killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Bombings Tuesday in Baghdad and Saqlawiya killed four people and wounded 19, authorities in Iraq said.

The four were killed and 11 wounded in a car bombing in Saqlawiya in central Iraq. Three police officers were among the dead, CNN reported. Three separate bombings, including one on a bus, wounded eight people in Baghdad Tuesday, officials said.

Monday, a U.S. soldier was killed and two wounded by an improvised explosive device in Ninawa province, Multi-National Corps-Iraq said in a statement Tuesday. The name of the dead soldier was not released.

His death brought to 4,350 the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion began in March 2003, icasualties.org reported.
