LONDON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A married British doctor faces sentencing for attempting to spike his girlfriend's drink to induce abortion, court records showed.
Dr. Edward Erin, a respiratory specialist at two London hospitals, was found guilty Monday of two charges of attempting to spike his lover's coffee and orange juice but not guilty of spiking her Earl Grey tea, the Sun reported.
Bella Prowse, 33, of London, Erin's girlfriend detailed for the court the story of how she became suspicious of drinks Erin handed her after they argued about whether to terminate the pregnancy, the newspaper said.
Prowse testified she took the drinks to police, who determined they were laden with drugs used to cause a miscarriage.
Prowse gave birth to a son, allegedly Erin's, in September 2008, the newspaper reported.
Erin is being held in custody until his sentencing on Nov. 16, court records showed.
