BAGHDAD, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The Multi-National Force-Iraq said Saturday security operations in northern Iraq resulted in the arrest of four suspected terrorists by Iraqi police.
The international force said in a release that one of those arrested Saturday was a suspect in a car bombing network in the city of Kirkuk. He is suspected of supplying weapons and safe houses to a group sponsored by al-Qaida in Iraq.
The operation Saturday also resulted in the arrest of an unidentified suspect described as a threat to the local community.
The Multi-National Force-Iraq said a second security operation northeast of Baghdad resulted in two additional arrests.
One suspect was wanted for allegedly associating with members of al-Qaida in Iraq and the Islamic State of Iraq. The other was detained on suspicion of involvement with terrorist activity.
None of the suspects arrested Saturday was identified.
