ISTANBUL, Turkey, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Turkish police and protesters clashed for a second day outside of a meeting of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Istanbul, witnesses said.

Demonstrators threw stones, firebombed ATMs and vandalized parked cars as IMF and World Bank leaders concluded their annual meeting during which they issued a public call for a "new world order" of economic relations in the aftermath of the global financial meltdown, CNN reported Wednesday.

Turkish police said at least 80 demonstrators were arrested during protests on Tuesday.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounced the protesters in a speech at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul.

"Protest does not mean attacking. Protest does not mean smashing windows," he said.
