ANKARA, Turkey, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- All passengers and crew on a Jat Airways Boeing 737-300 that skidded off the runway Sunday morning in Istanbul, Turkey, are safe, Turkish officials said.

The plane carried 125 passengers and six crew members, B92 news agency reported.

Rainy weather is blamed for causing the Serbian national carrier's plane to skid some 55 yards off the runway at Ataturk Airport before stopping.

Local media said the aircraft was damaged.

The plane took off from Belgrade, Serbia, for Istanbul Sunday morning.
