Roller coaster stuck on tracks at Maryland Six Flags

Rescuers safely remove 24 passengers from Joker's Jinx roller coaster at Six Flags America in Maryland.

UPPER MARLBORO, Mass., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Twenty-four people were left stranded Sunday after a roller coaster at Six Flags America in Maryland halted mid-ride, a spokeswoman with the amusement park said.

Rescuers with the Prince George's County Fire Department were called in to remove the passengers from the Joker's Jinx roller coaster, which stopped about 45 feet above the ground.

None of the passengers was injured, spokeswoman Debbie Evans told CNN.

Fire Chief Marc Bashoor posted photos and the status of the rescue on his personal Twitter account, and as of 7:15 p.m. ET, all passengers were safely on the ground after at least four hours on the ride.
