TRENTON, N.J., July 18 (UPI) -- A dump truck driver was charged with death by auto Friday for a rear-end crash that pushed a car into a New Jersey park lake.

The crash occurred Thursday afternoon in Lawrence, just outside Trenton. Police said that James McLean, 59, of Trenton was trapped in his car for more than two hours after his Nissan Altima was hit from behind, pushed into Colonial Lake and then held down by the dump truck.

McLean was pronounced dead after police were able to retrieve his body.

Daniel Everett, 38, of Westampton, N.J., was being held under guard at a Trenton hospital with bail set at $250,000.

Witnesses said McLean was stopped at a red light when he was hit, while Everett was speeding and driving erratically.
